In a recent press release, Atlas Ocean Voyages announced their collaboration with ORCA, reinforcing their commitment to safeguarding our oceans and marine ecosystems.
Onboard the World Navigator, Atlas Ocean Voyages has introduced Ocean Conservationists to its 2023/24 Antarctica sailings. This will ultimately focus on collecting data, raising awareness and contributing to safeguarding dolphins and whales. The program aims to engage Atlas’ guests in citizen science projects, allowing them to contribute to conservation efforts actively.
This collaboration empowers guests to participate actively as citizen scientists through engaging workshops and utilising ORCA’s OceanWatchers app. By documenting scientific data, guests play a vital role in contributing valuable information to enhance our understanding of the behaviours and movements of marine mammals.
James A. Rodriguez, Atlas’ president and CEO, stated, “This collaboration represents a significant stride in fostering a profound connection between travelers and marine conservation, benefiting the world’s oceans and their unique inhabitants.” He continued to say, “Together with ORCA, we look forward to fostering a deeper connection between our travelers and the incredible marine life they will encounter, ensuring a meaningful and enriching experience for all.”
