American Queen Voyages, formerly known as American Queen Steamboat Company, has decided to cease all operations as of 20 February 2024.

The Hornblower Group, which owns American Queen Voyages, underwent a significant restructuring in October, resulting in the departure of Cindy D’Aoust, the former president and CEO of CLIA, from her role as cruise line president.

Shortly after expanding and refocusing its operations, the cruise line withdrew from the coast cruise market and listed two small ships for sale. Additionally, it reduced its U.S. river capacity from four cruise ships to three.

Internally, employees and crew were informed of the company’s decision to cease operations as of 5 p.m. local time. Reports confirm that the closure was verified by contacting the central reservation number. When individuals call the main number, they hear a recorded message stating: “American Queen Voyages has made the difficult decision to shut down and all future cruises have been cancelled. Guests and customers should expect to be fully refunded for cancelled cruises.”
