Eleventh Fleet for Viking Cruises Named Viking Vela

Fincantieri has floated out Viking Vela, and it is currently undergoing its final outfitting in preparation for delivery in late 2024 for its inaugural season in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. Some of the itineraries that will be offered include the British Isles, Scandinavia, Norwegian Fjords, and more.

Unveiled Vela

Viking Vela will be slightly larger than the other vessels within the line. As the eleventh vessel in the series that commenced with Viking Star’s debut in 2015, Vela extends its dimensions ten meters longer and two meters wider than its sister ships. With an impressive gross tonnage of approximately 54,300 tons, the ship accommodates 998 passengers across its 499 cabins.

All Balcony Bliss

Viking Cruises proudly highlights that Vela will exclusively feature all-balcony accommodations, which allows the vessel to access destinations where larger ships cannot dock. The company’s commitment to providing a unique and elegant cruise experience is further reflected in Vela’s “understated elegance and modern Scandinavian design,” as showcased on its website.

Beyond Luxury

In addition to their substantial fleet of identical mid-sized luxury ships, Viking Cruises operates two purpose-built expedition vessels – the Viking Octanis and the Viking Polaris.
