Book Your Next Amazing Cruise with Travel Leader, Jeffrey Cleary
Royal Caribbean and Carnival, two of the world’s largest cruise ship operators, have announced that they will be dropping some of their vaccine requirements for passengers. The move comes as the industry attempts to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and attract more customers.
Previously, Royal Caribbean required all passengers aged 16 or older to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while Carnival required all passengers to be vaccinated. However, both companies have now relaxed their policies to allow unvaccinated passengers on some cruises.
Instead, unvaccinated passengers will be subject to additional testing and health and safety protocols, such as wearing masks and social distancing. The companies have stated that the decision was made in response to feedback from customers who were hesitant to book cruises if they were required to be vaccinated.
The move has been met with mixed reactions, with some customers welcoming the change and others expressing concerns about the risks of unvaccinated passengers on board. Many cruise operators are still requiring vaccinations for all passengers, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended that cruise lines require all passengers to be vaccinated.
Overall, the decision by Royal Caribbean and Carnival to drop some vaccine requirements highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the cruise industry as it attempts to recover from the pandemic and restore customer confidence.
